Peer Leader Educator HIV & AIDS at the Workplace Training PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA) was held on 8-10 August 2016 at Hariston Hotel, North Jakarta. 20 people from BUMA sites and Head Office Jakarta from HSE, HR & GA, dan Komunikasi Division participated in the training. BUMA General Manager, Human Capital Management, Nanang Rizal Achyar gave his opening remarks at the start of the event. In his remarks, Nanang Rizal Achyar asked all of the participants to become “agents of change” for other employees to educate on HIV & AIDS as well as reducing stigma towards People Living with HIV and AIDS and added that “through caring one another, we can save lives.” The PLE training was coordinated by dr. Niken Widyastuti, IBCA program Manager. Other trainers/instructor included dr. Sudi Astono, Indonesian Ministry of Manpower, Firman Wibisono, HIV & AIDS activist, and Ir. Muammar, Perkumpulan Kontrasepsi Mantap Indonesia.
The training materials given were HIV & AIDS basic information and HIV & AIDS socialization/education skills at the workplace. In addition, IBCA invited an HIV & AIDS activist during one session and also organized a Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) for all participants, a joint cooperation between IBCA and PKBI Jakarta. The follow up plan include organizing an educative event on HIV & AIDS in their respective working sites, developing policies on HIV & AIDS within the company, and implementing simultaneous Peer Leader Educator events on World AIDS Day, 1 December 2016.
