Ministry of Manpower Republic of Indonesia, National Commission on AIDS, ASEAN Secretariat and Indonesian Business Coalition on AIDS (IBCA) as ASEAN Business Coalition on AIDS (ABCA) coordinator in 2014-2016 held an award ceremony for the 1st ASEAN Red Ribbon for Outstanding Workplace (ARROW) and 2nd ASEAN Business Coalition on AIDS Meeting (ASEAN BCA) on 14-15 September 2016 at Hotel Royal Bogor.
ASEAN BCA Coordinator, Ramdani Sirait, Acting Director General for Fostering Labor Supervision and Occupational Safety and Health, Maruli Apul Hasoloan, and ASEAN Deputy Secretary General, Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee gave their opening remarks at the ARROW Award Ceremony (14/09). Six companies from ASEAN State Member, The Standard Chartered Bank (Brunei Darussalam), ACLEDA Bank (Cambodia), PT Kaltim Prima Coal (Indonesia), Sime Darby Group (Malaysia), Maynilad Water Services Inc. (the Philippines), and Microchip Technology Co. Ltd. (Thailand) received the ARROW award. This award is to appreciate companies that have successfully implement HIV awareness program at the workplace with aim to cultivate better awareness and greater involvement of the business leaders in achieving zero new-HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths in the workplace in ASEAN Member States. On the same day, all representatives from ARROW awardees and 2 IBCA member companies, which were PT Freeport Indonesia and PT Trakindo Utama presented their success stories on their HIV program implementation during a sharing session. In the end of the session, Bogor Mayor came to the event to greet and to introduce Bogor city to all Asean Member States delegate and ARROW awardees.
On the next day, on the 2nd ASEAN BCA meeting, all delegations from Indonesia, Brunei, Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia, the Philippines and Thailand reported the process in nominating the ARROW company awardees as well as the progress in establishing National Business Coalition on AIDS in respective countries. In the end on the meeting, ABCA Coordinator reported ABCA accomplishments throughout 2014-2016 and handed over the position of ASEAN BCA Charimanship from Indonesia to Malaysia for the 2016-2018 period.
